Pathway Communities Selects Forsyth for First Northside Venture
Mountain Views and 100-acre Lake Highlight Development
In 1998, on the heels of breaking ground for SummerGrove in Newnan,
now one of Atlanta's most successful master-planned communities, Peachtree
City Development Corp. changed its name to Pathway Communities. Steve
Black, president and chief executive officer of Pathway Communities, said
the name change was necessary as the company developed beyond Peachtree
City, the company's signature community.
Promises to expand beyond Atlanta's metro south are coming to fruition
in a big way. Pathway Communities has announced plans to develop a
300-acre community in Forsyth County. The development will be located two
miles north of Cumming on Hendrix Road and will have approximately 330
single-family homes on homesites ranging from half an acre to two acres.
Black explains, "Over the past 20 years, we have learned what makes a
great community--how to use things like architectural guidelines, natural
areas and recreational opportunities to create a total living environment.
We will take that experience, add exciting new elements like advanced home
communications technology, and create a community that is unique to Forsyth
County."
The new community has been dubbed Lake Forest. Charles Biele, Pathway
Communities senior vice president and general manager in charge of
development at Lake Forest, says the naming was simple. "We wanted a name
that expressed the beauty of the natural surroundings," says Biele. "And
we believe Lake Forest perfectly describes the pristine 100-acre lake and
towering hardwoods at this location."
Biele believes this development has all the essential elements to
be one of north Atlanta's most unique and sought-after locations.
"Being positioned at the scenic foothills of Sawnee Mountain and
having the private lake will really set us apart from other developments,"
says Biele. "And being only minutes away from GA 400 adds to the appeal.
This development is sure to be a premier destination on Atlanta's
northside."
Pathway is committed to unique amenity and technology offerings in
every new master-planned community, and Lake Forest is no exception.
Lake Forest will have a resort-style amenity package. In addition to
the private 100-acre lake, community amenities will include a water park,
tennis courts, walking trails, community parks, tot lots and neighborhood
gathering places.
Unique technology offerings will incorporate structured wiring for
every home in the community, ultra-fast Internet access and an interactive
community Intranet.
Home prices are expected to range from the upper $200s to over
$600,000. Development is slated to begin immediately, with model homes
opening in the spring of 2002.
Pathway Communities was founded in 1979 and is currently developing the
master-planned communities of Peachtree City in Fayette County, SummerGrove
and Avery Park in Coweta County and Monarch Village in Henry County.
